BRASS MUSIC
TAKES OVER KRK
null

The Island of brass music: 3 stages, 13 bands, 1000 visitors, and lots of sun, sand and sea: the BRASS PALMAS premiere was a complete success. Over four days, the Croatian island of Krk was enchanted by the domestic brass music scene and its fans. The spirit of the Woodstock der Blasmusik festival rocked the island. In 2019, BRASS PALMAS will be held from 26 to 29 September.

The Woodstock Team and the events travel company SPLASHLINE collaborated to create something that has never existed in this form before: a brass music-themed holiday. Imagine a party holiday with trumpets, trombones and tubas. A Mediterranean trip in dirndl, haferlschuh and lederhosen.

And Krk - or more precisely, the little town of Baška, with its charming old town and its almost two kilometres of beach - was the perfect event location. The event turned into a four-day party with a great, harmonious atmosphere, the likes of which the so-called "Vela Plaza" had certainly not witnessed before.

Great bands. Great fans.

LaBrassBanda, Folkshilfe, Viera Blech, Pro Solisty… The colourful programme included something for every taste. During the day, the bands played in the “Beach Club” or on the “Pool Stage”, at night they took to the large “Brass Palmas Stage”, which, due to the wind, had to be dismantled on Friday and rebuild on Saturday in a more protected location. The setup was praised by visitors and musicians alike. Speaking of the visitors: the BRASS PALMAS fans, relaxed people between 20 and 60 years old, were extremely positive and homogeneous. Nobody defined themselves by their age – it was the music, and the act of playing together, that brought the crowd together and created an incredibly cool atmosphere.

Legendary Gesamtspiel by the sea.

The Gesamtspiel has become something of a tradition at Woodstock events. It is where all visitors who feel like it play music together. And at Krk, they did so in style. Around noon on Saturday, a couple of hundred musicians gathered right on the beach and created a unique and emotional experience. Goosebumps guaranteed.

2019: Resumption due to success

Gazing at the turquoise sea, Simon Ertl and from the Woodstock team and the organiser SPLASHLINE express their satisfaction: “We have been thinking for a long time about how to take our festival on the road. The collaboration with SPLASHLINE made it possible, and I think we have really created something new here. In any case, that’s what the visitors are telling us. All the reactions are positive”. SPLASHLINE’s director, Didi Tunkel, blows on the same horn: “There was a great atmosphere throughout. I now see brass music, its energy and liveliness, from a completely new perspective. I have become a huge fan and look forward to the continuation in 2019”.

Controlled growth in 2019

In 2019, BRASS PALMAS will light up Krk again, from 26 to 29 September. But be advised: the number of participants to this unique brass music festival is limited. The organisers want to make sure to control the growth in order to preserve the incomparable and communicative charm of the event.
